Assistance (msg id: 2061)
Hello All!

My late Grandfather worked for NAA as a technical illustrator on the P-51 program. I am trying to obtain as much info as possible and thought you could help. I would love to find a list of the known illustrators, what each person concentrated on and the availability of an authentic service manual.

I know he used to eat his lunch in unfinished birds, visited the wind tunnel, but other info is lacking. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

WWII Bomber Crash at Bowman Field, Louisville, KY (msg id: 2056)
My father worked in the Goodyear munitions plant during the war and, as a member of the Civil Air Patrol (he was too old for active duty) he taught morse code to pilot trainees at Bowman Field in Louisville, KY. He related seeing a large bomber (he thought it was a B-29 but it could have been another type) crash and burn at the airfield. He didn't remember the date but he thought it was possibly mid-war.
If anyone had any info on this incident or how I could obtain records, etc.,I would appreciate anything you can provide.

P-51's The Best Plane Ever Built (msg id: 2049)
At least that's what I grew up hearing. My name is Janet Rice Peterson, my dad flew P-51's in the Pacific during WWII. His name was Floyd "Bud" Rice and his plane was named the Betty Jeanne. Dad is no longer living, and unfortunately although I grew up hearing the stories, none of them have been written down. I would love to know if anyone out there knew dad, his grandkids would love to hear the history first hand. Even though the times were hard, those were definitely his glory days.

Congratulations (msg id: 2046)
Dears sirs, I am a retired fighter pilot from Brazilian Air Force but I didn't fly propellers as fighters, but only Mirage III. I admire you and other pilots who fought in Europe, Asia and North Africa and I love reading about your fights. I would love to fly a P-51 that is my favorite fighter but I was born many years after that.
Congratulations because of your courage and heroism during the war and also because of this site that allows us to admire all of those adventures. Best regards
